  1.   In these cases as always, lymph nodes are first sampled to be certain they have no cancer. If nodes are

  4. ‚Ä¢ Treatment for Palliation  Radiation therapy to the prostate can reduce the size of the tumor , but long-term
  5.   effects in prolonging life are not well documented. This therapy can reduce obstructions and make urination
  6.   easier.
  7.       A transurethral prostatectomy (TURP) will also help urination and is less burdensome than radiation
  8.   therapy. But incontinence is more likely after if radiation therapy has been given, if cancer has spread to the
  9.   urinary control zone, the urethral sphincter .
  10.       Hormonal therapy is the mainstay of palliative therapy for prostate cancer.

  12. Five-Year Survival  50 to 55 percent for C-1, 40 to 45 percent for C-2
